Plainsnet Email Setup: Windows Live Mail

1. Click Acounts > Email (this step should be unnecessary if this is the first time Windows Live Mail has been opened on this computer).

2. "Add your email accounts."

  • Enter your Email Address and Password.

  • Enter your Display Name. This is the name that people will see when you send them an email.

  • Tick the check box that says, "Manually configure server settings."

  • Click Next.


3. "Configure server settings."
3a. "Incoming server information."

  • Server Type: POP

  • Server Address: mail.plainsnet.net

  • Tick the box that says, "Requires a secure connection (SSL)."

  • Ensure the Port changed to 995. If not, then manually change it.


3b. "Outgoing server information."

  • Server Address: mail.plainsnet.net

  • Tick the box that says, "Requires a secure connection (SSL)."

  • Ensure the Port is 25. If not, then manually change it.

  • Click Next > Finish.


4. You may see a warning that says, "The server you are connected to is using a security certificate that could not be verified." If so, click Yes.
